Alma Prague

NOOKART studio has been collaborating with Alma Prague for several years, bringing contemporary Czech art beyond the traditional gallery setting and into the vibrant atmosphere of one of Prague’s most distinctive restaurants.

Through a series of carefully curated installations, artworks become a natural part of Alma’s interior — creating a dialogue between art, architecture, gastronomy and everyday life. The collaboration reflects NOOKART studio’s approach to presenting contemporary art in spaces where it can be experienced intuitively, outside the conventional white-cube environment.

The current installation presents works by Czech artist Břetislav Malý, whose practice is rooted in a distinctly painterly approach. Colour, material and the physical process of creating the work are as important as the final image itself.

Through layering, sanding and polishing, Malý creates surfaces that reveal a subtle tension between order and emotion. Drawing on philosophy, aesthetics and personal experience, his work explores themes of solitude, alienation and human communication, while searching for an almost invisible vibration between the individual, the artwork and the surrounding space.

Placed within Alma Prague, Malý’s works enter into a new relationship with their surroundings. Rather than being viewed in isolation, they become part of the architecture, atmosphere and rhythm of the space, inviting guests to encounter contemporary art naturally, as part of their everyday experience.
