TALKING HEADS presents the work of five contemporary artists – Sára Konečná, Marcela Putnová, Gabriela Slaninková, Eva Maceková and sculptor Magdaléna Roztočilová – whose practices centre on figuration as a living and ever-changing instrument of visual expression. Across painting and sculpture, the figure is not merely a representation of the body; it becomes a carrier of inner states, identity and subtle narratives rooted in both personal and collective experience.
Each of the artists approaches figuration in her own way – from introspective positions, through alternative worlds and illusory paradises, to symbolically layered scenes in which the human figure merges with motifs from nature. It is precisely this interpenetration of the body and the surrounding world that accentuates the themes of interconnectedness, vulnerability and strength, which manifest in many forms within female experience.
The exhibition does not offer a single interpretation, but rather a plural field of perspectives in which individual approaches meet, complement and question one another. The figure here is not a closed image but an open space – a place where the personal meets the universal, and the intimate meets the public.
TALKING HEADS is an invitation to slow down and to look attentively – to listen to images that do not speak literally, yet resonate all the more intensely.
